The MDC UK & Ireland Women’s Assembly hosted the late Dr Morgan Tsvangirai’s memorial service in Southgate, London.
A heartfelt thank you to the hosting SE district and the Women’s Assembly for all the hard work which resulted in an extremely successful event.
Thank you to all who attended and celebrated with us, it was an emotional time as we heard stories about his life from members and friends.
The event was well attended with a variety of speakers who spoke movingly about Dr Tsvangirai’s legacy. Speakers spoke about unity and the importance of focusing on the vision left by Dr Tsvangirai and continue the fight to bring change and freedom to Zimbabwe.
Dr Tsvangirai risked his life to stand up to the authoritarian rule of Robert Mugabe and his allies in the security forces and continued in his defiance towards the regime.Â
His message was always one of reform, democracy and empowerment. His legacy of standing up to Robert Mugabe was indeed astounding, against a man who had the country’s security, machinery and wealth under his control. Dr Tsvangirai had integrity, the trust of the people and a deep love for the freedom of Zimbabwe and its people.
We shall never forget the legacy we now follow to continue the fight till Zimbabwe is free.
